We were looking to shoot the Emiah Couture Áoyè collection, as well as create a video to accompany the set. As this shoot was going to be a big one, we wanted it to do more than just sit on our social media channels and on our websites, so we decided to send it to publication. In my mind there was one magazine that I thought the shoot would fit in perfectly, ELEGANT magazine, and I’m pleased to say we have since had our images published – You can take a look here!
The photos needed to work together as a set and a lookbook, however look different enough to see the different styles of each outfit. Luckily our location had enough areas to work with to allow us the freedom to do that, mix that with the changing light and I think we successfully pulled it off.
Both myself and Alycia wanted to do video for this shoot to add some depth and sit nicely along side the images, I’ve really been enjoying doing video as of late, so this was a perfect excuse. It was a bit of a learning experience for me, as I find with any shoot really, but the changing light, the space and trying to keep the camera steady were a bit of a challenge. I’ve since realised how to fix light flicker in camera and realised that I really need a camera stabiliser, no doubt I’ll make some more realisations as I do more video work haha.
This shoot really was a team effort. I feel like you can get the best results when you just work with passionate and talented people who want to create something great. It was an absolute pleasure to work with these ladies and I want to say a special thanks to Alycia for being a joy to collaborate with, it’s not often you meet someone who is as invested in a photoshoot as you are, the attention to detail and effort she put into this collection and our shoot made shooting and editing an absolute dream.
We hope you like the photos, video and feature in ELEGANT magazine.
Please note, below is very image heavy.
